Kathmandu<\/strong> \u2013 The Digitization and Preservation of Library Resources (DPLR)<\/em> project has been launched to support the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) in digitising and safeguarding the collections of Nepal\u2019s major public libraries \u2014 the Nepal National Library, Dilliraman Kalyani Regmi Memorial Library, and Kaiser Library.<\/p>

Implemented in Nepal with technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and funding from the e-Asia and Knowledge Partnership Fund (EAKPF), the initiative aims to modernise library services while protecting valuable cultural and literary resources.<\/p>

Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED), leading a consortium of universities, has been managing the project since March 2024. In its initial phase, the team conducted library visits, consultation meetings, and needs assessments to understand the capacities, challenges, and service improvement opportunities in public libraries.<\/p>

These activities also enabled the project to study the current equipment, preservation methods, and digitisation practices in use \u2014 paving the way for modern, accessible, and sustainable library resource management in Nepal.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
