The project focuses on converting physical collections such as books, manuscripts, reports, photographs, and other documents into digital formats so that they can be safely preserved and easily accessed by users.<\/p>\n\n<p>The DPLR project is implemented under the <strong>Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST)<\/strong> of the Government of Nepal with technical and financial support from the <strong>Asian Development Bank (ADB)<\/strong>. The project plays a significant role in the development of the <strong>National Digital Library of Nepal<\/strong>, which aims to provide online access to digital learning resources for students, researchers, and the general public.<\/p>\n\n<p>The main objectives of the DPLR project include:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digitizing rare and valuable documents available in libraries and archives.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preserving cultural, historical, and academic resources for future generations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n<li>Developing digital repositories and databases for easy access to information.<\/li>\n\n<li>Training library professionals in digitization techniques, metadata creation, and digital preservation.<\/li>\n\n<li>Promoting the use of modern technologies in libraries and information centers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Under this project, several major libraries in Nepal have been selected as pilot institutions. These include the <strong>Nepal National Library<\/strong>, the <strong>Kaiser Library<\/strong>, and the <strong>Dilli Raman Regmi Memorial Library<\/strong>. These libraries are working on digitizing their collections and contributing digital resources to the national repository.<\/p>\n\n<p>The DPLR project is a major step toward modernizing Nepal\u2019s library system.
