What is ndl.gov.np?

Preserving Nepal’s Heritage, Connecting Knowledge to the World

The National Digital Library (ndl.gov.np) is Nepal’s premier online gateway to a vast collection of cultural, historical, and academic resources. It brings together the valuable collections of major libraries across Nepal, making it easier for students, researchers, and the public to discover and access materials that were once difficult to find.

Through ndl.gov.np, you can explore a wide range of resources, including rare books, historical maps, manuscripts, modern e-books, academic journals, and digital images. Our mission is to preserve Nepal’s literary and cultural heritage while making it readily accessible for future generations.

Powered by a Vision for Modernization

The Nepal Digital Library is a key initiative of the Digitization and Preservation of Library Resources (DPLR) Project. This landmark project, launched under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), is dedicated to safeguarding and modernizing the collections of Nepal’s most important public libraries:

  • Nepal National Library
  • Dilliraman Kalyani Regmi Memorial Library
  • Kaiser Library

Our Partners in Progress

This transformative initiative is made possible with funding from the e-Asia and Knowledge Partnership Fund (EAKPF) and technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Since March 2024, the project has been expertly managed by the Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED), leading a consortium of universities.

Through comprehensive needs assessments, library visits, and stakeholder consultations, our team has worked to understand the current state of Nepal’s library resources. We are now implementing modern equipment, advanced preservation methods, and sustainable digitization practices to build a robust, accessible, and future-proof digital library system for all of Nepal.
