Introduction

Koha is a widely used open-source Integrated Library System (ILS) that helps libraries automate their daily operations such as cataloguing, circulation, acquisitions, and patron management. This user manual provides a basic guide for library staff and users to effectively operate Koha.


1. Getting Started with Koha

To begin using Koha:

  • Open a web browser and enter your library’s Koha URL
  • Log in using your username and password
  • You will be directed to the Koha Staff Interface Dashboard

3. Basic Operations in Koha

Login and Logout

Searching for Books

Issuing Books

  • Go to Circulation Module
  • Enter patron ID
  • Scan or enter book barcode
  • Confirm issue

Returning Books

  • Select return option
  • Scan the book barcode
  • System updates status automatically

4. Cataloging Process

  • Click “New Record”
  • Fill in bibliographic details (title, author, ISBN, etc.)
